Text is a collection of words or letters that are understandable by the reader. On a computer text can be created, viewed, edited, and modified using a text editor. Text is a human-readable sequence of characters and the words or letters form can be encoded into computer-readable formats such as ASCII.

Text is simply another name for words. Text provides information to the reader. Text is everywhere, from greeting cards, newspapers, magazines, books, websites and anything with computer screens.
In multimedia, text is used as headlines, subtitles, and captions. In addition to supplying content, text is used to give directions and communicate information, text-based menus and buttons help guide users through the multimedia application, and ebooks, websites, and reference materials still rely on text to inform and educate.
Text Case
A capitalized letter is referred to as uppercase, while a small letter is referred to as lowercase. Placing an uppercase letter in the middle of a word is referred to as an intercap.

Text Format
Formatting text means making changes to the way it looks. You can change the size color and style of the font using text tools application. Different types of software will give you different options for formatting text.

Text Emoticons
A text smiley face is used to convey a facial expression or emotion in texting and online chat conversations. Emoticons are mostly written from left to right as though the head is rotated counter-clockwise 90 degrees.

Text Symbols
Special Characters or Miscellaneous Symbols is a Unicode block containing glyphs representing concepts from a variety of categories: diacritics, punctuation, symbols, sign, shapes, text art and among others.

Text Hyperlink
Hypertext is defined as the organized cross-linking of words. A system in which words are keyed or indexed to other words is referred to as a hypertext system. A hypertext system enables the user to navigate through text in a non-linear way.

Character Sets
The American Standard Code for Information Interchange (ASCII) is a 7-bit coding system. The extended character set is commonly filled with ANSI standard characters. The ISO-Latin-1 character set is used while programming the text of HyperText Markup Language (HTML) pages. Unicode is a 16-bit architecture for multilingual text and character encoding. The shared symbols of each character set are unified into collections of symbols called scripts.
